Jeddah: Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar said that it is not the time to blame audiences but please them and bring them to theatres. Industry must learn what audiences want rather than blaming them for flops, he said.

"It's our fault," Kumar said. "We need to know what they want and stop blaming (the audience) for everything because a lot of people have blamed the (audiences) and are saying they don't want to come out, but I think it's our turn to please them and bring them out."

"I think we have to try much harder than we used to do earlier, we have to try harder to get them out," he said, Deadline.com reported.

At the venue of the Red Sea International Film Festival, Akshay Kumar had a chat with Deadline.com and revealed that the series with Amazon would start shooting next year.

He said the project's script has been completed and is titled 'The End'.

Kumar, who is debuting in the streaming series area through the said project, said, "it's more on the science fiction" side of things with "a lot of action in it, I can say that."

He further revealed that him working on a film about sex education, a topic he feels is important to talk about. "I like doing social films which can make a difference, especially in my country and in anybody's life," Kumar told the Hollywood-based entertainment news outlet.

He said, "I just pick up those topics, and I make a film, but I make it in a very commercial way where obviously there are songs, there's a comedy, there's drama, there's a tragedy. So, I take real stories and adapt it and cover it up with all the commercial things."

Later he said that both Bollywood and Hollywood's theatrical businesses were affected by the Covid-19 onslaught. Now it is important for the industry to work smarter and harder to get the audience back into theatres.
