Sonam Kapoor to perform at King Charles III's coronation

Mumbai: Bollywood actress will be seen performing at King Charles III's coronation next week. The lineup for a concert in London has been announced.

The coronation service will take place on 6 May 2023 at Westminster Abbey. The concert will be held on 7 May 2023 at Windsor Castle.

Many global celebrities are being brought together for the historic occasion. Icons joining Sonam are Hollywood star Tom Cruise, Winnie The Pooh, and Nicole Scherzinger, the frontwoman of the American girl group The Pussycat Dolls.

According to a report in Variety, Sonam will be delivering a spoken word performance to introduce the Commonwealth virtual choir. This is her first royal appearance. She and her family live in London.

Downton Abbey and Paddington star Hugh Bonneville will host the proceedings. The concert is being produced by BBC Studios.

A release from the Palace read: "Buckingham Palace is pleased to announce further details on the ceremonial, celebratory, and community events that will take place over the Coronation Weekend between Saturday 6th and Monday 8th May 2023. The Service will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury. As previously announced, the Service will reflect the Monarch's role today and look towards the future while being rooted in long-standing traditions and pageantry."
