Sonam Kapoor issues legal notice to YouTuber over video roasting
text_fieldsBollywood actor Sonam Kapoor has served a legal notice to a YouTuber who created a video poking fun at the actor's statements in one of her videos.
The legal notice claimed that the video, posted by content creator Raginyy, had a detrimental impact on Kapoor's reputation, that of her husband Anand Ahuja, and their fashion brands.
Sonam Kapoor has engaged legal representation to actively address defamatory remarks, online harassment, and unfavourable online reviews.
Raginyy, the content creator, shared the legal notice on her Instagram and YouTube accounts, captioning it, "She who must not be named."
The notice specifically addressed a video in which Raginyy had humorously commented on Sonam Kapoor's remarks made at public events.
"The reported video contains unlawfully uploaded content owned by our client, Ms. Sonam Kapoor Ahuja," the legal notice stated, referencing the video where she had roasted Sonam Kapoor.
The notice went on to assert that such actions were not authorised by their clients and requested the removal of the mentioned link, along with ensuring that their platform is not used for similar activities. It also warned that if the YouTuber failed to comply with the request, Sonam Kapoor might take necessary action to protect her reputation.
Raginyy, who had 6,000 subscribers on YouTube when she received the notice, expressed her concerns, citing a lack of resources and time to contend with such a legal notice from an influential individual.
As news of the legal notice emerged, many social media users criticised Sonam Kapoor, asserting that there was nothing "offensive" in the roast video.
Raginyy also said that she was not criticising the actress but saying people make dumb statements all the time like Sonam did back in the day. She reiterated that she was supporting Sonam and not shaming her.
