Shamshera Box Office Collection Day 3: Ranbir Kapoors film fails to impress audience in opening weekend
cancel

Ranbir Kapoor's Shamshera has failed to impress the audience. The film which marks Ranbir's return to cinema after four years, has done average business during its first weekend. While the expectations were high, it looks like the audience is not very happy with the action-thriller.

If estimates are to be believed, the YRF production's first-weekend collection will be around Rs 32 crore.

The Karan Malhotra directorial opened at Rs 10.25 crore on Friday and earned Rs 10.50 crore on Saturday.

The opening is way lower than what the industry expected out of it. While the film was expected to take off during the weekend, looks like the collection remained low despite good word of mouth. In 2 days, Ranbir's film has managed to earn a mere Rs 20 crore. According to early estimates, the film's Sunday earnings have also not been great. As per trade predictions, its collection for the third day won't cross Rs 11.25 crore.

The storyline of Shamshera follows Ranbir Kapoor's character being pitted against Sanjay Dutt. The latter plays the role of an evil, merciless and cold-hearted man named Shuddh Singh. The film is set in the 1800 fictitious city of Kaza, where a warrior tribe is imprisoned, enslaved and tortured by a ruthless authoritarian general Shuddh Singh. The story focusses on a slave who becomes a leader and then a legend for his tribe. He relentlessly fights for his tribe's freedom and dignity. Shamshera also stars Ronit Roy, Saurabh Shukla and Ashutosh Rana in pivotal roles.
