Mumbai: After Samantha Ruth Prabhu was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called myositis, several rumours were spun about her future in the film industry. The latest of the lot was that she has backed out of Raj and DK’s upcoming film Citadel in order to take a break from work.

However, it is only a rumour. Samantha is very much part of the original spy series and will begin shooting in January, reported Pinkvilla. While official dates are not yet confirmed, a source revealed that anything and everything written about her being replaced in Citadel is rubbish. "She will begin the shoot in the second half of January."

Citadel is the Indian adaptation of the International series created by the Russo Brothers. It also stars Varun Dhawan. Both actors are expected to work on some high-octane action sequences under the watchful eyes of a Hollywood action director. The film will be shot in Mumbai as well as in a few Eastern European countries.

After the news of her diagnosis got out, the actress clarified that it is not a life-threatening disease. "I want to clear up one thing. I saw a lot of articles describing my condition as life-threatening. The stage I’m in, it’s not life-threatening. At the moment, I’m not dead yet. I don’t think those headlines were very necessary," she said in an interview. Ahead of the release of her film Yashoda, she wrote on Instagram: "Some days are good, some are bad. Some days, I’ve felt that even taking one more step would be difficult. But when I look back, I wonder if I’ve gone through so much and have come this far. I’m here to fight."

She will also be seen in a Vijay Deverakonda starrer film called Kushi. The next schedule of the film's shoot is yet to be locked. She will also be seen in a mythological project Shaakuntalam which is going to hit the screens in four languages - Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam - on February 17, 2023.
