Salman Khan urges students to return home, says PM will act on paper leak

Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has urged protesting students to return home and appealed to activist Sonam Wangchuk to end his hunger strike, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's assurance of strict action against those responsible for the NEET 2006 paper leak.
The actor took to X, formerly Twitter, on Thursday and posted a lengthy note, saying the nation's students were of utmost priority.
"The students are at top priority, educationally n security-wise, so they need not worry and have their parents worried for them. The Honorable Prime Minister has tweeted, and I am sure that he will take strict action against all those people who are responsible for this leak. So students, plz go back to your parents n homes," he wrote.
Salman also urged Sonam Wangchuk to call off his hunger strike, saying he could arrange food for him from home.
"Sonam, it's done, bro. Don't extend this. Keep the spirit for another day if there be a need, which I doubt, n eat something. If u want, will send u food from home (sic)," he wrote.
The issue of paper leaks in the education sector reached a fever pitch following the NEET paper leak. Activist Sonam Wangchuk had launched an indefinite hunger strike to protest against the alleged paper leak and demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The protests intensified after Delhi Police forcibly removed Wangchuk from the protest site at Jantar Mantar in the early hours of July 18, after he had completed 21 days of an indefinite hunger strike. Authorities subsequently shifted him to a hospital, citing his deteriorating health, medical advice and compliance with a Delhi High Court order.
Wangchuk has been on hunger strike demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations.
