Mumbai: Actor Trisha Krishnan, who dons Kundavai Devi in Mani Ratnam's "Ponniyin Selvan: 1 (PS 1)", said that she had read all the five volumes of Kalki Krishnamurthy's book "Ponniyin Selvan" for her role, IANS reports.

Mani Ratnam's PS duology is based on Kalki's book.

Trisha said, "When we started shooting for the film, the entire world was hit by the pandemic, which led to a lockdown. So, during that period, I read all five volumes of the novel. I used to believe that historical fiction novels are hard to read, but this was very interesting."

She was talking at 'The Kapil Sharma Show' along with co-actors of PS 1, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, and Sobhita Dhulipala.

The 39-years-old actor, who gathered fame through her roles in Tamil movies such as 'Saamy', 'Ghilli', 'Aaru' etc., also acted in several Telugu movies like 'Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana' and 'Athadu'.

Further, she talked about her preparations for the role. She said, "After finishing one book, you will be compelled to pick the next one, it's that intriguing. But the novel and the film are quite different because the way Mani sir beautifully summarised five books into two films is beyond my imagination. So, I call this film Mani Ratnam's 'PS 1'."

Sony Entertainment Television airs 'The Kapil Sharma Show'.
