The much-loved Dhoom franchise is all set for a revival, with Ranbir Kapoor confirmed to headline the fourth instalment, tentatively titled Dhoom Reloaded.

According to Pinkvilla, producer Aditya Chopra is planning a fresh take on the action-packed series, with pre-production already underway. Filming is expected to begin by late 2025 or early 2026.

An insider close to the project shared that Aditya Chopra is fully committed to rebooting the franchise to match modern cinematic trends. "The Dhoom series is very close to Aditya Chopra, and he aims to create an extraordinary cinematic experience with Dhoom 4," the source revealed, adding that the script is being developed by Chopra in collaboration with Vijay Krishna Acharya.

Ranbir Kapoor has reportedly been in discussions about the role for quite some time, and his involvement is now official. The source added, “Ranbir has shown interest in the project from the start, and Aditya Chopra believes he is the perfect fit to carry forward the Dhoom legacy.”

The upcoming film is expected to set new standards for Indian cinema, with plans to make Dhoom 4 a tentpole film of global quality. In addition to Ranbir Kapoor, two prominent younger actors are also being considered to play cop buddies, a dynamic central to the franchise.

The Dhoom series first captivated audiences in 2004, with Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra in lead roles. The sequels featured Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Dhoom 2 (2006), followed by Aamir Khan in a dual role in Dhoom 3 (2013).
