Rajkummar Rao confirms Stree 2, Hints at a horror universe with Varun Dhawan ad Ayushmann Khurrana

Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao said that he will soon begin shooting for Stree 2, the sequel to his 2018 horror comedy. When asked about the possibility of a horror-comedy universe, he said it is a possibility and makers will have to make that decision.
Bhediya starring Varun Dhawan has drawn attention back to Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy universe. After the song Thumkeshwari featuring Shraddha Kapoor started streaming, she took to Instagram to share a BTS video. The actress hinted that Stree 2 is happening soon and wrote "Stree is back. Super vibe. It is so nice to be back on set. It is so exciting for me because we are going to start Stree 2 very soon."
According to Pinkvilla, pre-production of Stree 2 will begin after Bhediya is released in November. Shooting will start in the first quarter of 2023. After Shraddha's dance number was seen in Bhediya, Varun Dhawan is rumoured to make an appearance in Stree 2.
A source said that the plot of Bhediya is eventually leading to the plot of Stree. This will form the horror-comedy universe.
In a recent conversation with Pinkvilla, Rao said that it will be fun to work with Ayushmann Khurrana in the horror universe. Amid the Diwali season, he also posted a photo with Khurrana and Varun Dhawan along with director Amar Kaushik. Ayushmann had commented on the picture: "Hain tayaar hum!" (we are ready.)
