South Korean boy band BTS confirmed on its Twitter handle that its singer Jung Kook will be performing in the official ceremony of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. "Jung Kook participated in the official soundtrack and will be part of the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022," read the tweet.

The opening ceremony will be on November 20th at 7:30 PM IST at Qatar Al Beit Stadium. The World Cup will begin on November 21st.

The soundtracks of the FIFA World cup have developed a history of acquiring special status in pop culture with some of the popular ones being We Are the Champions by Queen, Waka Waka by Shakira, and We Are One (Ole Ola) by Pitbull.

Shakira, Dua Lipa, J Balvin, Black Eyed Peas Diplo, Kizz Daniel, Calvin Harris, Nora Fatehi, and Trinidad Cardona are also expected to be part of the 2022 opening ceremony.

Jung Kook was also seen in Qatar filming a video that many fans speculated to be the music video for FIFA's soundtrack. A few months ago, he collaborated with Charlie Puth on his track "Left and Right." The 25-year-old is also the group's youngest member. He has earlier released three solo tracks Begin (2016), Euphoria (2018), and My Time (2020). All of them have been charted on South Korea's Gaon Digital Chart.
