'Parasite' actor Lee Sun-Kyun found dead in car amid drug use trial

He was found unconscious inside a car in a park, according to Reuters. Lee has been in the news for the past few months, due to an investigation over illegal drug use. He claimed to have mistakenly consumed drugs at a nightclub.
Lee's wife contacted the police after she had found what appeared to be a suicide note. According to Yonhap, Lee's wife found the note after he left the home.
South Korea, known for its stringent drug laws, imposes severe penalties for drug-related offences. Offenders can face up to six months in prison, with penalties up to 14 years for repeat offences and drug dealers.
The actor, born in 1975, played the role of a rich father in 'Parasite'. He also played lead roles in many South Korean movies including, 'Helpless', 'All About My wife', and several other notable projects.
Lee was also part of Apple TV+'s first Korean original series titled 'Dr Brain'.
The six-episode sci-fi thriller, released in 2021, follows Koh Se-won, a stoic neurologist who unravels the mysteries surrounding a family accident through daring brain experiments.
