Palestinian filmmaker Elia Suleimans films to be screened for free for 10 days

The Arab Film and Media Institute and The Arab American National Museum, in partnership with the Doha Film Institute, shall hold a 10-day retrospective starting from May 21 till May 30, of the Palestinian director and writer Elia Suleiman, reports Esquire Middle East.

All four movies of the avant-garde filmmaker, including his best known 'Divine Intervention' and his other three moves' The Time That Remains', 'It Must Be Heaven' and 'Chronicle of a Disappearance' will be streaming in a Video-On-Demand style, enabling viewers to watch these films at their leisure. The event shall also include a live, virtual talkback with Elia Suleiman on May 23 at 3 PM EST.

Suleiman's feature debut in 1996, 'Chronicle of a Disappearance' won the Best First Film award at the 1996 Venice Film Festival, while his 2002 movie Divine intervention won the Jury Prize at the Cannes film festival and the Best foreign film prize at the European awards. Both his 2009 feature 'The Time That Remains' and 'It Must Be Heaven' was screened in competition at the 2009 and 2019 Cannes film festivals, respectively.
