Pakistani actor Sajal Aly remembers late actor Sridevi as a mother figure
cancel

Mumbai: Pakistani actor Sajal Aly, who made her Bollywood debut in the 2017 film Mom, has expressed her desire to work in India again despite the political tensions between India and Pakistan. Aly, who shared a special bond with the late Sridevi, said that she hopes the boundaries separating artists from the film world will one day disappear.

Speaking about her bond with Sridevi, Aly said as reported by The Hindustan Times, ‘She was like my mother. It was not just a work relationship that we had. It was something more than that." She added that she felt a special connection to India because of her close relationship with the late actor.

In the meantime, Aly has found a way to continue her relationship with the Indian film industry by working on her first international film, What’s Love Got to Do with It?, directed by Shekhar Kapur and featuring actor Shabana Azmi. The film explores cross-cultural conflicts through the concept of arranged marriage in the age of Tinder.

Aly expressed her belief that politics should not come between art and the artist and that she received a lot of love and respect while working in Bollywood. She hopes that one day the tensions between India and Pakistan will ease, allowing artists to work together freely.

Despite the challenges, Aly remains optimistic about her future in the film industry. "Let’s see what the future has in store for me," she said. "I have been talking about this for years and years."
