Media mogul Rupert Murdoch to marry for the fifth time
text_fieldsSan Francisco: Media mogul Rupert Murdoch said he is engaged to marry for the fifth time to Ann Lesley Smith, a former San Francisco chaplain.
Murdoch is 92 years old and Smith is 66 years old.
Speaking to the media, the Australian-born businessman said he was very nervous and dread falling in love. "But I knew this would be my last. It better be. I'm happy." He was married to Patricia Booker (1956-1967), Anna Murdoch Mann (1967-1999), Wendi Murdoch (1999-2013), and Jerry Hall (2016-2022). He has six children from three marriages.
The bride-to-be Ann Lesley was previously married to a country-western singer Chester Smith and he died in 2008. He was also a radio and TV executive. She said she and Murdoch bonded over their shared knowledge of the media business. "For us both it's a gift from God. We met last September. I'm a widow of 14 years. Like Rupert, my husband was a businessman. Worked for local papers, developed radio and TV stations, and helped promote Univision. So I speak Rupert's language. We share the same beliefs," reported New York Post.
Murdoch said they plan to get married in the summer and is looking forward to spending the second half of life together. They will spend time between California, the UK, Montana, and New York.
