Matthew Perry Foundation promises to support people battling addiction

Los Angeles: The Matthew Perry Foundation has been established in honour of the late actor, known for his role as Chandler Bing on the iconic sitcom "Friends."

Perry passed away at the age of 54 on October 28 at his Los Angeles residence, though the exact cause of death remains undetermined.

The foundation, named after the beloved actor, is dedicated to assisting individuals who are facing the challenges of addiction. It seeks to continue Perry's commitment to helping those grappling with addiction issues, a cause he was deeply passionate about throughout his life.

Matthew Perry had been candid about his personal battles with drug and alcohol abuse. He faced addiction to Vicodin and underwent rehabilitation in 2001. Following his journey to recovery, he transformed his former Malibu home into a sober living facility known as the Perry House. This facility provided support to individuals in their recovery process and operated until 2015.

The Matthew Perry Foundation is structured as a donor-advised fund and is sponsored and managed by the National Philanthropic Trust. The foundation's mission is to carry forward Perry's legacy, guided by his words and experiences, and to make a meaningful difference in the lives of as many people as possible.
