Malayalam actor Dileep Shankar found dead in hotel room

Thiruvananthapuram: Malayalam actor Dileep Shankar was found dead in a hotel room in Kerala’s capital city on Sunday, and the cause of death is yet to be known. It is learned that he checked into the hotel on December 19 and was staying in Thiruvananthapuram for the shooting of a television series.

The hotel staff informed us that the actor did not leave his room even once after checking in and that his co-stars could not get him on the phone. Following this, they came to the hotel to check on Dileep and requested the staff to open the door to find him dead inside.

Also, the staff had noticed that a foul odour was coming out of the room before the room was opened, and they had informed the police.

The director of the show Dileep was working on told the police that Dileep was suffering from some serious illness, but he didn’t know the nature of the same, according to Matrubhumi. Also, reports indicated that the actor had been under treatment for the same.

Police initiated an investigation into the death, and a forensic team is going to examine the room.

The New Indian Express reported that there were no factors revealed in the initial evaluation of the case that pointed towards an unnatural death. Police said that there were no signs of foul play and that the exact cause of death would be out after the autopsy.
