Kangana promised aid but never followed up: Actress Malvi Malhotra
text_fieldsModel turned actress Malvi Malhotra has expressed disappointment in Kangana Ranaut's lack of meaningful aid after the latter promised to help her financially following an assault that put Malhotra in hospital.
Kangana had offered financial aid to the struggling actress after the assault left her with a severed finger and mounting hospital bills.
"I had a lot of faith in Kangana, and I believed that she will come forward to help me and fight against this issue," Malhotra said in a statement made to the Mumbai Mirror. "…The same day Kangana tweeted about it. She was targeting the industry and nepotism, but she tweeted that she will come and help me and fight for me in this case."
However no help was forthcoming she revealed, adding that it was in fact actress Urmila Matondkar who came forth to stand by her and even intervene with the police on her behalf.
"…When I got discharged, I was waiting for her to come forward and help, but nothing happened. Not only her, but no one even from her team contacted me. I was surprised," she said.
Malhotra had put out a video in which she appealed for speedy justice and specifically requested aid from Kangana Ranaut and the Women's Commission Chief Rekha Sharma. Kangana picked up the tweet and condemned it as the usual fate of "small-town strugglers" that did not have the privilege of nepotism or power.
"Dear Malvi I am with you, I read you are critical, I pray for you dear girl, requesting @sharmarekha Ji to take immediate actions against the culprit, we are with you, and we will get you justice. Please have faith," another tweet read.
In October 2020, Malhotra was assaulted by producer Yogesh Mahipal Singh who used a knife to mutilate her after which police arrested him. The alleged motive was anger at a spurned marriage proposal, the police had said at the investigation's initial stages.
