Kangana lauds Deepika's oscars appearance after depression dig

Actor Kangana Ranaut is not one to mince her words. She is known to make hard-hitting statements at her colleagues without fear of consequences. Her potshots aimed at Bollywood biggies often trigger trolls and meme fests.

Kangana has now lauded Deepika Padukone after the latter introduced the performance of the iconic song Naatu Naatu, from SS Rajamouli's RRR, at the Oscars.

The actress on Monday re-shared a tweet in which Deepika presented the dance.

‘How beautiful @deepikapadukone looks, not easy to stand there holding the entire nation together, carrying its image, reputation on those delicate shoulders and speaking so graciously and confidently. Deepika stands tall as a testimony to the fact that Indian women are the best (red heart and national flag emojis)’, she wrote on Twitter.

She had earlier taken a dig at Deepika in 2020 on World Mental Health Day while asking her fans to watch her film ‘Judgemental Hai Kya’.

‘The film that we made for Mental Health awareness was dragged to the court by those who run depression ki dukan, after media ban, name of the film was changed just before the release causing marketing complications but it’s a good film, do watch it today’, Kangana had tweeted.

Deepika had bravely spoken about her experience with depression back in 2015, the same time she announced her non-profit NGO The Live Love Laugh Foundation to raise awareness about mental health.

When asked about her opinion on an influencer shaming Deepika for her ‘hemlines and necklines’ during the promotion of the film ‘Gehraiyaan’, Kangana slammed the journalist saying ‘Look, I am here to defend those who can’t defend themselves. Alright? She can defend herself. She has the privilege, the platform and I can’t promote her film here. Sit down.”

While many were quick to shower praise on Kangana for supporting Deepika, others lauded Deepika for representing India at the Oscars and presenting the song ‘Naatu Naatu’.

Other celebrities too praised Deepika including actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu who wrote on Instagram, ‘Dead (red heart emojis)’ and actor Alia Bhatt who commented ‘This beauty making India proud and how .. (red heart emojis)’.

Deepika took to the Oscars stage on Monday to introduce RRR’s song ‘Naatu Naatu’. She wore an all-black off-shoulder velvet gown, her hair tied into a bun and her look accessorised with a yellow diamond drop necklace.
