IT dept. accuses actor Sonu Sood of financial irregularities totalling Rs 250-cr

Mumbai: The income tax department accused Bollywood actor Sonu Sood of alleged financial irregularities worth around Rs 250 crore through unutilized charitable funds, fake contracts and circular transactions across India, officials said.
IT sleuths raided 28 locations in Mumbai, Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur, Kanpur, and Gurugram over the course of two days - one of the largest such investigations ever conducted on an actor.
The IT has alleged that around Rs 20 crore in donations or crowd-funding funds has gone unused, that fake contracts worth Rs 65 crore have been entered into, and that dubious circular transaction worth Rs 175 crore have been carried out with a Jaipur-based infrastructure company.
IT investigations continue after cash, incriminating documents, and other evidence of tax evasions have been seized.
