In a tribute to the legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra, actress Rani Mukerji unveiled a commemorative stamp at the Australian Parliament House ahead of the 15th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2024.

The event, which took place on August 13, marked a celebration of Yash Chopra's lasting impact on global cinema and the 50-year legacy of Yash Raj Films (YRF).

Expressing her excitement and honor, Rani Mukerji stated, "This is not just a celebration of Yash Chopra and YRF’s incredible legacy in shaping global pop culture, but also a tribute to the Indian film industry, which has captivated audiences worldwide through the power of cinema." She also highlighted her pride in witnessing the festival's growth over the years, emphasizing its role in fostering connections between the creative minds of India and Australia.

The unveiling ceremony was accompanied by keynote speeches from both Rani Mukerji and filmmaker Karan Johar at the Parliament in Canberra. The event was attended by dignitaries, Members of Parliament, and various ministers, underscoring the significance of the occasion.

Festival Director Mitu Bhowmik Lange remarked on the importance of this year’s festival, saying, "As we celebrate our 15th year, it is a true blessing to have Rani Mukerji unveil the stamp honoring the late Yash Chopra. His contributions to Indian cinema have shaped generations and will continue to inspire for years to come."

Yash Chopra, who was the first patron of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, continues to be celebrated for his unparalleled contributions to the world of cinema. The 15th edition of the IFFM is set to commence on August 15, further solidifying the festival's role in bridging cultures through film.
