Ileana D'Cruz announces pregnancy, comments are predictably misogynistic

Mumbai: Actress Ileana D'Cruz on Tuesday announced her pregnancy on Instagram. While family and friends showered congratulatory messages and well wishes, many people wanted to know who the father of the baby is. Some others were curious to know whether Ileana is married or not.
The Barfi actress shared two photos in the morning. The first was the picture of a baby romper with the slogan "And so the adventure begins". The second one was the word "mama". She captioned the post, "Coming soon. Can't wait to meet you my little darling." sister Farrah commented, "So excited! Cannot wait." Mother Samira wrote, "Welcome soon to the world my new grand baby."
The comments were variations of "Who is the father" and "When did you get married". Some took it upon themselves to speculate her relationship status and asked whether Ileana is still dating Katrina Kaif's brother.
Many also warded off the prying eyes and told people to mind their own business. Some fans also called out the misogyny and lack of respect for privacy and personal choices. "She doesn't have to reveal everything, it's her choice," said one. One user commented, "mentally ill society".
Many industry insiders Shibani Akhtar, Atiya Shetty, Malaika Arora, Nargis Fakhri, Sendhil Ramamurthy, and Sanam Ratansi congratulated the soon-to-be mom.
The 36-year-old is known for keeping the details of her personal life private. She was in a relationship with Australian photographer Andrew Kneebone and the couple broke up in 2019. Ileana had referred to him as "best hubby ever" at one point but did not bother to clarify whether they were married or not. Speaking about her breakup with Pinkvilla, she said: "I don’t get upset. When you are going through a situation like this, you understand the value of your family and friends. It’s the same that happened for me. I had my family and closest friends supporting me right through it."
Recently, Karan Johar on his talk show seemingly confirmed that Ileana is dating Katrina Kaif’s brother, Sebastian Laurent Michel. They were seen together in a photo taken in the Maldives during Katrina's birthday celebration. Neither Ileana nor Sebastian confirmed the relationship.
