While it is common for fans to get excited during concerts, a troubling new trend has emerged where concertgoers become overly enthusiastic and throw heavy objects at performers, sometimes causing serious harm.
This reckless behaviour has affected several famous artists, including Billie Eilish, Cardi B, Sunidhi Chauhan, and Karan Aujla. The latest victim of this disturbing trend is renowned playback singer and music composer Sonu Nigam, according to the Indian Express.
The incident occurred during Nigam's performance at the Engifest 2025 event at Delhi Technological University (DTU) on Sunday, when some of the crowd began throwing stones and bottles at the stage.
Upon noticing this, Nigam stopped the performance and urged the audience of over one lakh students to stop such dangerous behaviours that could harm people on stage.
“Main aapke liye aaya hun yahan pe so that we can all have a good time. I’m not asking you to not enjoy, but please aisa na kariye (I have come here for you so that we can all have a good time. I’m not asking you to not enjoy, but please don’t do this),” he pleaded, Hindustan Times reported, stating that his team members were getting hurt.
A viral video from the event shows that Nigam was initially unfazed by the crowd throwing harmless items. In the clip, he is seen joyfully accepting and even wearing a pink headband that was thrown onto the stage while he performed the song "Tumse Milke Dil Ka Jo Haal.”
