New Delhi: Filmmaker Hansal Mehta has revealed that 'All We Imagine As Light', the Cannes Grand Prix-winning film directed by Payal Kapadia, is struggling to secure an OTT platform for its digital release.

Mehta, who shared a review of the film by The New Yorker on social media, expressed his disappointment, stating that he had heard no OTT platform had purchased the film yet. He described the situation as a reflection of the harsh reality of independent filmmaking in India, adding, "This is no country for the spectacular 'All We Imagine As Light'. Hope I'm proved wrong."

The film, which made history as the first Indian film to win the prestigious Grand Prix award at the Cannes Film Festival in May, was distributed by Rana Daggubati's Spirit Media. It has already been released theatrically in Kerala and is set for a nationwide release on November 22.

'All We Imagine As Light' is a Malayalam-Hindi film about Prabha, a nurse whose life takes an unexpected turn after receiving a gift from her estranged husband. Her younger roommate, Anu, also faces her own challenges in the bustling city, as she seeks a private space to be with her boyfriend. The film follows the two women on a road trip to a beach town, where a mystical forest serves as a space for their dreams to manifest.

The film stars Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, and Chhaya Kadam, and is an official Indo-French co-production between petit chaos from France and Chalk & Cheese and Another Birth from India.
