Akshay Kumar is the "highest taxpayer" of India: reports
text_fieldsMumbai: Bollywood Actor Akshay Kumar, a Canadian citizen of Indian origin, has again become India's "highest taxpayer" of India, and the Income Tax Department honoured him for the same, Asian News International reported citing other reports.
A picture of the honourary certificate given to the actor by the department had gone viral online.
A social media user tweeted that according to haters, he is not a global superstar and has no HGOTYs (Highest Grosser Of The Year) or many BBs (Block Busters). They call him Canadian and many other things, but he remains the highest income tax payer than the rest of the industry for the last five years, the user said and added that he is the user's superstar.
Another user wrote that the Income Tax Department has felicitated Akshay with a Samman Patra and termed him the highest taxpayer from the Hindi film industry. Haters must see this before calling him Canadian, the user suggested.
Akshay is to appear along with Bhumi Pednekar in the movie 'Raksha Bandhan', to be released on August 11. The film is directed by Aanand L Rai, written by Himanshu Sharma and Kanika Dhillon, while the production is by Colour Yellow Productions, Zee Studios, and Alka Hiranandani in association with Cape Of Good Films.
Akshay is also there in "Selfie", the Bollywood remake of the Malayalam flick "Driving Licence". It will feature Emraan Hashmi, Diana Penty and Nushrratt Bharuccha. It is produced by the late Aruna Bhatia, Hiroo Yash Johar, Supriya Menon, Karan Johar, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Apoorva Mehta and Listin Stephen.
Further, he will star against Radhika Madan in the Hindi remake of Suriya's Tamil film 'Soorarai Pottru'. Director Sudha Kongara started shooting the movie in April.
