After a hiatus of 14 years since their last venture Khatta Meetha, Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan are set to reunite for an upcoming comedy film.

The much-anticipated collaboration between filmmaker Priyadarshan and actor Akshay Kumar is officially underway, with Ekta Kapoor producing their latest project. Priyadarshan has disclosed that their upcoming film will retain the comedic essence of their previous works but with an intriguing blend of "horror and fantasy."

Putting an end to speculations, Priyadarshan has confirmed the long-awaited partnership, expressing his enthusiasm for the project. Following the completion of his docu-series on the history of the Ram Mandir, Priyadarshan is now gearing up for what he describes as his "most important film."

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Priyadarshan shared insights into the film's genre, stating, "It is a horror fantasy with humour." When questioned about similarities to Bhool Bhulaiyaa, their renowned horror comedy, Priyadarshan clarified that while the 2007 film was a psychological thriller, their new endeavor will delve into the realm of "fantasy, intertwined with the theme of black magic, one of India's oldest superstitions."

Expressing his delight at collaborating with Akshay Kumar once again, Priyadarshan praised the actor's adeptness in portraying emotions. He expressed his anticipation for the project, emphasizing that he had been awaiting the right script to reunite with Kumar.

Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan have a history of successful collaborations, including acclaimed comedies like Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhag, and De Dana Dan. Their last joint venture, Khatta Meetha, was released in 2010.

Akshay Kumar, despite facing challenges at the box office, has a packed schedule ahead with projects such as Sarfira, Sky Force, Welcome to the Jungle, Shankara, and Khel Khel Mein, among others.
