London: Australian actress Rebel Wilson has become a mother via surrogacy. She shared the first picture of her daughter Royce Lily and described her as a "beautiful miracle."

The actress took to Instagram to thank the "gorgeous" surrogate for carrying the baby.

She wrote: "Beyond proud to announce the birth of my first child, Royce Lillian, born this past week via surrogate. I can't even describe the love I have for her, she's a beautiful miracle! I am forever grateful to everyone who has been involved, (you know who you are). This has been years in the making but particularly wanted to thank my gorgeous surrogate who carried her and birthed her with such grace and care. Thank you for helping me start my own family. It's an amazing gift. The BEST gift!! I am ready to give little Roycie all the love imaginable. I am learning quickly. Much respect for all the Mums out there! Proud to be in your club."

Rebel was recently in the news for her dramatic weight loss journey she shared on social media. She also came out as gay and revealed her relationship with fashion designer Ramona Agruma in June. However, it was later alleged that she was blackmailed by a Sydney-based publication and had to come out of the closet before she was ready. At the time, Rebel said: "I thought I was searching for a Disney Prince ... but maybe what I really needed all this time was a Disney Princess."

The 42-year-old has spoken about her fertility journey and desire to be a mother earlier. In December 2021, she told BBC that it was her year of health and she has been struggling with fertility. "I'm still trying on the fertility journey, even though it is emotional and you get hopeful and then your hopes are dashed, so I feel for any woman going through it."

After being diagnosed with PCOS, she decided to freeze her eggs. She said: "It could be great if I had my own children, but I don't know whether that's going to happen."

During an Instagram live, she said: "I knew I was going to have a bit more time. I was also freezing my eggs because — as all good, career women out there should note — that if that's something that interests you, it's a pretty good time to do it. I was thinking about fertility and having good-quality eggs in the bank. So I was like, OK, I am going to do this. I am going to get healthy."
