80th Golden Globes: Naatu Naatu of RRR wins Best Original Song

Los Angeles: Making history, the 'Naatu Naatu' song from SS Rajamouli's pan-Indian flick (also pan-global) 'RRR' won the Best Original Song for a Motion Picture at the 80th Golden Globes, IANS reported.

'Naatu Naatu' brings the first-ever Golden Globe to the Indian subcontinent. Many influential people, including musician AR Rahman, Telugu star Chiranjeevi etc., conveyed their congratulatory messages.

However, the movie lost Best Motion Picture non-English to 'Argentina 1985'.

The song competing in the 2023 edition of the awards along with 'Carolina' from "Where the Crawdads Sing", "Ciao Papa" from "Guillermo del Toro's "Pinocchio", "Hold My Hand" from "Top Gun: Maverick," "Lift Me Up" from "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever".

The composer of the song MM Keeravani was accompanied by his wife to receive the honour. Keeravani dedicated the award to Rajamouli and actors Ram Charan and NTR Jr, both of who donned the central characters in 'RRR'.

Accepting the award, Keeravani said, "Thank you very much for this prestigious award: "This award belongs to SS Rajamouli for his vision, and I thank him for constantly believe and supporting my work. N.T. Rama Rao and Ram Charan, who danced with full stamina."

'RRR' had a vibrant cast of NTR Jr., Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody and Olivia Morris.

The story revolves around two real-life Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, but in a fictionalised world, who became friends and fought the British Raj. Set in the 1920s, the plot explored the undocumented period in their lives when both the revolutionaries chose to go into obscurity before they began the fight for their country, IANS reported.
