69th National Film Awards: Allu Arjun is Best Actor; Alia, Kriti share Best Actress award; Rocketry: The Nambi Effect bags Best Film

New Delhi: The 69th National Film Awards were announced on Thursday during a press conference by the Jury at the National Media Centre, New Delhi.

The Jury members for the National Film Awards handed over the list of awardees for feature, non-feature and best script category to Union Information &Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur.

A total of 280 films across 28 languages were in competition for various awards.

Tollywood star Allu Arjun bagged the Best Actor award for the Telugu-language action drama film 'Pushpa: The Rise', a first for a Telugu star to win a National Award for Best Actor.

Bollywood actresses Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon shared the Best Actress Award for their performances in ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ and ‘Mimi’ respectively.

Pallavi Joshi and Pankaj Tripathi have been named Best Supporting Actors for ‘The Kashmir Files’ and ‘Mimi’ respectively.

‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ won the award for Best Feature Film while ‘The Kashmir Files’ won the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Film on National Integration.

Shoojit Sircar’s biographical historical drama ‘Sardar Udham’ won several awards at the 69th National Film Awards. Apart from being named the Best Hindi Film, it also bagged Best Cinematography (Avik Mukhopadhyay), Best Audiography (Sinoy Joseph), Best Production Design (Dmitrii Malich and Mansi Dhruv Mehta) and Best Costume Design (Veera Kapur Ee) awards.

SS Rajamouli's epic historical film ‘RRR’ bagged National Awards for Best Action Direction, Choreography and Special Effects.

Malayalam film industry also has reasons to celebrate as actor Indrans received a special mention for his performance in the movie ‘Home’. Directed by Rojin Thomas, ‘Home’ has also been awarded the Best Malayalam Film.

‘Nayattu’ that featured Joju George, Nimisha Sajayan and Kunchacko Boban in lead roles, won the national award for Best Screenplay (Original) for Shahi Kabir.

‘Meppadiyan’, produced by Unni Mukundan, who also played the lead role, bagged the Indira Gandhi award for best debut film of a director.

RRR also won in Action Choreography (King Solomon), Dance Choreography (Prem Rakshith for ‘Naatu naatu’), Special Effects (V. Srinivas Mohan), Background Score (M.M. Keeravani) and Best Male Playback Singer (Kaala Bhairava for ‘Komuram Bheemudo’).

Best non-feature film

Garwali and Hindi film Ek Tha Gaon wins Best Non Feature film.
