Ranchi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has recovered a total of ₹ 25 crore unaccounted cash during raids at multiple locations in Jharkhand's capital Ranchi on Monday, NDTV reported.

ED sleuths swooped down on nearly half a dozen locations linked to Virendra Ram who is the former chief engineer at the Jharkhand Rural Development Department.

Virendra Ram was arrested by the ED in a money laundering case in February 2023.

A mountain of currency notes was seen piled up in a room belonging to the domestic aide of Sanjiv Lal, the report said citing a footage.

Lal is reportedly the personal secretary to Jharkhand Rural Development minister Alamgir Alam.

‘Corruption is not ending in Jharkhand. This money during elections indicates that there is a plan to spend this money in the elections. The Election Commission should take action on this,’ said Jharkhand BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdev was quoted as saying.

Simultaneous raids are underway at nine locations, including Sail City in Ranchi.

One team of the ED started raiding on Monday morning Sail City to locate Vikas Kumar, an engineer from the Road Construction Department.

Meanwhile, another team is raiding the Bariatu, Morhabadi, and Bodia areas.
