On Friday, Delhi saw a max temperature of 15.4 degrees Celsius - five degrees below normal - as it experienced a long, foggy day.

Minimum temperatures in the city were 6 degrees Celsius -- a degree below average.

According to the IMD, there was dense fog during the morning hours and moderate fog in the afternoon over Delhi NCR as well as Punjab, Haryana, west Uttar Pradesh, and northern Rajasthan.

In addition, light north westerly winds blew over the region today, leading to a cold day. According to the airport's hourly visibility data, Safdarjung and Palam experienced dense fog between 4.30 and 7 a.m. until 9.30 and 11 a.m., respectively.

It is the longest fog day over Delhi this season. Fog was only able to cover the main city till evening at Safdarjung and IGI Palam could only reach 1,000 meters at 3.30pm.

The IMD reported that today was the longest foggy day over Delhi this season. Due to the lack of sunlight, it also caused a cold day, with winds of 8-12 kmph from the northwest around noon.

The IMD forecast for the national capital states that foggy mornings will continue this week, with maximum and minimum temperatures hovering around 16 and 6 degrees Celsius.
