New Delhi: Laurene Powell Jobs, the wife of the late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, is currently in India for the Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, scheduled to begin on January 13.

Before heading to the grand event, Laurene stopped by Varanasi’s iconic Kashi Vishwanath Temple to offer her prayers. Accompanied by Swami Kailashanand Giri Maharaj from Niranjani Akhara, she followed the temple's traditions, wearing a pink suit and a white dupatta on her head. She offered her prayers from outside the sanctum sanctorum, as Hindu traditions prevent non-Hindus from touching the Shivling.

Swami Kailashanand Giri explained, “She followed the temple's traditions and prayed for the successful completion of the Maha Kumbh without obstacles." He also shared that Laurene, who has been renamed ‘Kamala’ by the Akhara, will stay in Prayagraj for the Kumbh and is planning to take a dip in the Ganga. The Maha Kumbh, a grand religious event held once every 12 years, will conclude on February 26. In an effort to enhance the experience for global tourists, the Union Ministry of Tourism has launched a toll-free Tourist Infoline (1800111363 or 1363), available in 10 languages to assist international visitors at the event.
