New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday that "corruption is like a "termite" and it will make the country hollow. All the people of India should work against corruption to get it rid of the nation as soon as possible, Modi said in his "Mann Ki Baat", PTI reported.

In the radio broadcast, "Mann Ki Baat," he said more than one crore children across the country and abroad has sent their "Mann Ki Baat" via postcards. The postcards gave a broad idea of the new generation's perspective for the country's future, he said.

One among the cards, sent by a girl from Uttar Pradesh, wishes India free of corruption in 2047, Modi said. Modi asked why we should wait till 2047. All the people of the country, along with the youth, should work to get rid of it as soon as possible, he said. He further said they should give priority to their duties. Corruption cannot exist where there is a sense of responsibility as well as where duty stays supreme.

Later he informed the merging of 'Amar Jawan Jyoti' near India Gate and the flame at the nearby National War Memorial and urged people to visit the war memorial.
