United Arab Emirates (UAE) astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi took to Twitter to share a stunning view of Dubai all the way from the International Space Station (ISS). The nighttime view has left netizens in awe of the city's beauty.
The image showed the city's signature Palm Jumeirah, Jebel Ali, and residential areas including the Jumeirah Village Circle. "Dubai shines almost as bright as the stars up here," he captioned the post.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, shared the image on his account. He described it as "an awe-inspiring photograph of Dubai taken by Emirati astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi". The image paints a picture of the nation's extraordinary achievements both on Earth and beyond, he added.
The picture has since then gone viral on social media and netizens are calling it beautiful, inspiring, and stunning. One user called it a reminder of the UAE's commitment to innovation and excellence.
Sultan Al Neyadi is a 41-year-old Emirati astronaut who is currently on a six-month space mission. He is one of the first two astronauts from the UAE along with Hazza Al Mansouri. Al Neyadi was announced to be the step-in if anything were to happen to Al Mansouri that would compromise the mission. In July 2022, Al Neyadi was officially chosen for the seat from Axiom Space for a UAE astronaut to travel to the ISS on NASA’s crew rotation flight, SpaceX Crew-6. On April 28, he became the first Arab to perform a spacewalk.
