The UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has warned residents about scams using its name and logo through fake phone calls and websites.
In a notice issued on April 30, the authority said the attempts are aimed at fraud as well as gaining access to personal data through hacking.
ICP provides a range of services to users inside and outside the UAE, including applications for Golden Visa, Blue Residency and other public visas. It is also responsible for issuing Emirates ID cards and related services for residents.
The authority urged customers to use only official channels, including its website and smart app, when accessing services.
It also advised residents not to share one-time passwords or UAE PASS verification codes, stressing that its staff do not request such information.
ICP called on the public to avoid responding to suspicious calls, messages or links to protect their data and finances. It said legal action would be taken in coordination with relevant authorities against those involved.
