Kuwait welcomes UN resolution condemning Iranian attacks on GCC states, Jordan

Kuwait has welcomed the adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, which condemns recent Iranian attacks against Gulf Cooperation Council states and Jordan.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the resolution upholds the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity and rejects attacks on civilians and critical infrastructure.

The ministry described the measure as an important step in efforts to stabilise the region and urged full compliance with its provisions to reduce tensions and support international peace and security.

Kuwait also acknowledged the diplomatic work that led to the resolution’s passage, commending Bahrain for presenting the draft on behalf of the GCC and Jordan. Officials said the move reflects the Security Council’s responsibility under the UN Charter and international law.

The statement concluded with appreciation for UN member states that co-sponsored Resolution 2817, calling their backing a sign of solidarity with the GCC and Jordan.
