Kuwait condemns Houthi attack on Riyadh airport

Kuwait has denounced a Houthi attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh that left several civilians dead or injured, including passengers and airport staff from Saudi Arabia and other nationalities.

The attack also forced a temporary suspension of airport operations, Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Sunday.

The ministry said the incident violated international law and international humanitarian law, describing it as part of systematic attacks on civilian property and vital facilities.

It warned that the attack marked a serious escalation and threatened the safety of civilians and air traffic, calling for those responsible to be held accountable.

Kuwait expressed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for any measures the Kingdom takes to protect its security and stability, as well as the safety of citizens and residents.

The ministry said Saudi Arabia’s security was integral to the security of Kuwait and other member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

It also extended condolences to the Saudi leadership, government and people, as well as the families of victims of other nationalities, and wished those injured a speedy recovery.

Kuwait urged the international community to take a firm stance to protect civilian property and civil aviation facilities from further attacks and bring those responsible to justice.
