Kuwait condemns Israeli ministers’ calls to displace Palestinians from Gaza

Kuwait has condemned statements by two Israeli government ministers concerning the displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the comments as an assault on the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and a violation of international law and international humanitarian law.

The ministry rejected all attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians and called on the international community and the UN Security Council to confront any effort to impose a new demographic or geographical reality in the occupied Palestinian territory.

It said such proposals threatened international efforts to achieve peace, including US President Donald Trump’s comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza, which explicitly rejects forced displacement.

The ministry also warned that the proposals could have serious consequences for prospects of achieving security and stability in the region.

Kuwait said the Gaza Strip was an integral part of the occupied Palestinian territory and called for the unity of Palestinian land in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, to be preserved.

The ministry restated Kuwait’s support for the Palestinian cause and the right of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state along the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
