Kuwait has welcomed the recent decisions by the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia to formally recognize the State of Palestine, describing the move as a positive step toward achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.
In a statement released on Sunday, Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed appreciation for what it called a “conducive step” toward reviving the peace process and advancing the two-state solution.
“Kuwait reaffirms the importance of enabling the Palestinian people to establish an independent state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital”, the ministry said.
The Gulf state urged other countries to follow suit, emphasizing that wider international recognition would contribute to a just and comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian cause, restoration of security and stability across the region, and prosperity for all nations.
The recognition by London, Ottawa and Canberra comes amid renewed international attention on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with growing calls for diplomatic initiatives aimed at ending decades of unrest.
