Kuwait condemns Iranian missile, drone attacks after residential complex hit

Kuwait has strongly condemned Iranian missile and drone attacks that struck several sites in the country early on Wednesday, including a residential complex.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attacks as a clear breach of Kuwaiti sovereignty and a threat to the country’s security and stability, according to a statement carried by the Emirates News Agency.

No information was provided about casualties or the extent of damage at the affected sites.

The ministry said the continuation of the attacks constituted a serious violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.

It also described the strikes as an explicit breach of UN Security Council Resolution 2817.

The resolution, adopted on March 11, 2026, condemned Iranian attacks against Kuwait and six other countries and demanded that Iran halt them and comply with its obligations under international law, according to the United Nations.

Kuwait said the attacks represented a dangerous escalation that threatened security and stability across the region.

The ministry warned that further strikes would weaken diplomatic efforts intended to reduce tensions and prevent additional escalation.

The Foreign Ministry reaffirmed Kuwait’s right to take all necessary measures permitted under international law.

It said such action could be taken to safeguard national sovereignty, protect the country’s security and interests, and ensure the safety of citizens and residents.
