Kuwait backs first phase of Gaza ceasefire plan

Kuwait welcomed the first phase of the plan proposed by US President Donald Trump that calls for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the start of negotiations to end the conflict.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said Kuwait supports all international efforts aimed at enforcing the ceasefire and allowing the immediate entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.

The statement noted that such efforts would help strengthen security and peace in the region and praised the roles of Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United States and Turkiye in supporting the plan.

Kuwait reaffirmed its support of the Palestinian right to establish an independent state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy, the Arab Peace Initiative and the New York Declaration on the two-state solution.

The ministry said that achieving a just and comprehensive peace remains essential for stability in the Middle East.
