Bahrain: Applied Science University to host global tech and sustainability conference

Applied Science University will host an international conference on emerging technologies and sustainability in Bahrain on May 6 and 7, bringing together researchers and industry specialists from across the world.

The International Conference on Emerging Technologies for Sustainability and Intelligent Systems (ICETSIS 2026) is expected to draw more than 1,000 participants from over 30 countries, with contributions largely from the Asia-Pacific region, followed by Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The event builds on the first edition held in 2022 and will focus on developments in artificial intelligence, data science, communication and network technologies, digital learning, financial technologies and sustainable design in architecture and civil engineering.

Organisers said the conference will provide a platform for researchers to exchange expertise and discuss current work and future trends in these fields.

Submissions will undergo a peer-review process led by the Technical Program Committee with support from international reviewers, with selected research to be published on platforms including IEEE Xplore.

The conference will be held in a hybrid format, allowing both in-person and virtual participation.

Waheeb Al Khaja, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, said the event reflects the university’s focus on research and innovation.

“The University is committed to providing a stimulating academic environment that supports knowledge creation and the development of sustainable solutions to global challenges", he said.

Hatem Masri, President of the University, said the conference would help strengthen international academic links.

“Organising this scientific event demonstrates the University’s commitment to keeping pace with rapid developments in emerging technologies, while providing an interactive platform for knowledge exchange”, he said.
