Applied Science University in Bahrain opens bridging pathway, dual-award courses

Manama: Applied Science University (ASU), ranked Bahrain’s top university in the QS World University Rankings 2025, has launched a new Bridging Programme.

The programme is the first to be officially accredited for a private university in Bahrain. It gives diploma holders the chance to earn a bachelor’s degree in two to two-and-a-half years.

The first intake includes bridging in Computer Science. It also offers dual-award British engineering degrees in partnership with London South Bank University (LSBU). These include Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

ASU says the new programme reflects its wider plan to expand access to higher education. The university already holds a QS 5-Star rating. It is also the first in Bahrain to be accredited by the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) across all programmes.

The university highlights its state-of-the-art facilities, research-led teaching, and international faculty. It says these provide students with skills to compete in the global job market.

Diploma holders can also apply for undergraduate programmes taught in Arabic and English. These include Business Administration, Accounting, Accounting and Finance, Political Science, Management Information Systems, Law, Graphic Design, and Interior Design.

ASU and LSBU also offer additional dual-award British degrees. These include the LLB (Hons) Law and BA (Hons) Business Management.

ASU President Professor Hatem Masri said the bridging programme is part of a forward-looking vision. He stressed the importance of attracting students from Saudi Arabia. He said the programme is designed to build academic and practical skills to meet regional and global market needs.

Professor Masri added that ASU aims to be a destination for students who want to complete higher education and reach professional goals. He encouraged students, including those from Saudi Arabia, to contact the university via WhatsApp at +973 6663 3770 for details.
