Farhan Zuberi, Former Cabinet Member, Aligarh Muslim University Students' Union, has recently joined a political party, All India Majlis-e-Iittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM).
While talking to Madhyamam over phone he confirmed the news and said, "I am waiting for the official letter from the party and then I will personally announce my decision to join AIMIM, from my social media accounts."
On asking why he only chose AIMIM he said, "Muslims have been chased and betrayed by every other political party in India. AIMIM paves the way to build strong leadership for Muslims and over the years we have been witnessing that the party is vocal and empathetic towards Muslims, minorities and talks about justice and fairness."
Zuberi asserted that Muslims should come under the umbrella of one strong leadership and AIMIM is the right party to do so. "We are so done with the shallow promises and fake alliances of the political parties and really need to support and stand strong firmly beside someone who really believe in the idea of India, who talks about the idea of unity in diversity and thinks equally about all the citizens" , he further said.
Through his position he will definitely work to uplift the social and educational status of his community and will work to protect and promote secular values of the country, he added.
Zuberi is an active voice on AMU campus and seen standing for justice. He was at the forefront during protests over citizenship amendment law during last December.
