Hyderabad: The former Congress government in Telangana handed over 1,600 acres of Waqf board properties in Hyderabad to multinational companies under the guise of developing IT parks, All India Majlis e ittehad ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi alleged on Friday. The party floor leader told the Telangana Assembly that it was the former government in the erstwhile state of Andhra Pradesh that handed those lands to companies like Lanco, Wipro, Microsoft and ISB in Gachibowli, Siasat reported.
Akbaruddin Owaisi alleged that so far, no IT park has been developed on the land that was under Dargah Hzt Hussain Shah Wali, which was handed over to the mentioned private companies. However, Lanco develops residential apartments on the allotted land, he stated.
“Over 1,600 acres of land under Dargah Hzt Hussain Shah Wali was handed over to the state for IT development during the reign of the former Congress government In erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. However, no IT park has been developed. Lanco today has developed residential apartments on the allotted land,” Siasat quoted him.
He reminded that the matter reached the Andhra Pradesh High Court and had received a favourable judgement for the Waq board, but when it reached the Supreme Court, councils fighting for the Waqf board were under pressure from the government. This led the Waqf board to face serious challenges, Owaisi said.
He further said that it was due to the negligence of the Waqf board and pressure from the Congress government not to admit to the claim that the board lost the case.
