Lucknow: The Allahabad High Court last week granted bail to a man, who allegedly supported ‘Hamas’ on social media platform X, while resenting India’s stand over Israel, LiveLaw reported.

While granting the bail to the man, a bench of Justice Sameer Jain pointed out that the alleged offences are ‘triable by Magistrate-I Class with maximum punishment of three years’ and also noted that the man did not have any criminal history to his name.

It is reported that accused Gosh Mohammad is in jail in since October 2023.

Gosh Mohammad was booked under Sections 505(2) IPC and 67 I.T. Act after he supported ‘Hamas’ in a post on X and expressed resentment against the Government of India for supporting Israel in Israel-Hamas war, according to the report.

The prosecution argued that his post led to creating tension in the village of Singhai, Murawan.

He approached the HC seeking bail with his counsel arguing that allegation against him was false, adding that alleged offences are ‘triable by Magistrate-I Class with a maximum punishment of three years.’
