US, UK, Germany step up security around ‘targets’ as war in Gaza rages

New Delhi: Gaza is now a warzone where fire is spewing down from the skies after Israel started hitting back at Hamas.

Towering buildings slip down into billowing smoke and rubble with details of casualties are not yet known.

Now most neighbourhoods are piles of bricks and splintered metal mesh from broken concrete slabs.

Reports say that over a thousand killed and several thousand are in grievous injuries.

Since Hamas triggered the conflict on Saturday morning by storming into Israel to conduct a well-planned attack on land, air and sea, the situation in the region has worsened.

Many countries are also wary of the conflict in Gaza manifesting its implications in their streets.

The US, UK, France and Germany, have increased security to "potential Jewish targets" and "pro-Palestinian protesters".

In the US at least a thousand gathered expressing solidarity with Palestinians, which had a counter response from pro-Israel protesters.

Security to synagogues in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, and Houston has been beefed up in view of Sunday’s a Palestinian solidarity rally in Manhattan.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul called the Palestinian solidarity rally "despicable and morally reprehensible".

The state landmarks including the World Trade Center and Niagara Falls will be illumined with the blue and white colours of the Israeli flag.

The conflict in Israel has echoed on social media in UK with the Scotland Yard increasing patrols across London.

The Metropolitan Police warned against the "glorification" of Hamas's terrorists alongside stepping up observation on hate crimes.

‘We are aware of a number of incidents, including those that have been shared on social media, in relation to the ongoing conflict in Israel and the border with Gaza,’ the Met Police stated.

Authorities in France stepped security to synagogues in Paris, Marseille, Lyon, and Strasbourg and Jewish temples and schools across the country.

The arrangements have been made after a Jewish leader warned of the conflict spilling over into the country.

France has an estimated 500,000 Jews, the largest Jewish population in Europe.

French authorities has banned a pro-Palestinian rally scheduled for Monday evening in Lyon fearing public disorder.

Germany and Canada have also stepped alert against conflict in Israel echoing in their streets.

Authorities in Germany increased security to Jewish and Israeli institutions in the country after Palestinian supporters celebrated in Berlin Hama’s attack on Israel.
