Justin Mohn was detained on Tuesday night on charges of first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse alongside possessing an instrument of crime with intent in the killing of Michael Mohn, NY Post reported.
His mom, Denice Mohn alerted police after finding her 68-year-old husband’s headless body, court documents said.
The video Justin Mohn posted on YouTube reportedly circulated for hours before it was taken down.
Denice Mohn said when she returned home she did not find her son and her husband’s Toyota Corolla, according to CNN.
The prosecutor's office said in a statement when officers arrived responding to the emergency call, ‘The victim's adult son was not present when police arrived and left the area in his father's vehicle.’
Police recovered a machete, and a large kitchen knife in the bathtub before finding Michael Mohn's head inside a plastic bag.
Identifying himself as Justin Mohn in the video, the man went on reading from a written statement before holding up a bloodied head from a plastic bag.
He called his father a traitor, adding that he was a federal employee for over 20 years.
‘America is rotting from the inside out as far left, woke mobs rampage out once prosperous cities,’ he said.
Justin Mohn vented his anger at US President Joe Biden, the Black Lives Matter Movement and the LGBTQ community.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for You Tube said: "The video was removed for violating our graphic violence policy and Justin Mohn's channel was terminated in line with our violent extremism policies. Our teams are closely tracking to remove any re-uploads of the video’.
