US boy missing after mother sent him away to ‘learn to be a man’
text_fieldsNew York: Authorities in Wisconsin, US, are searching for a little boy who has gone missing a week since he was last seen with his mother’s boyfriend.
The 3-year-old boy, identified as Elijah Vue, was last seen on February 20 in the city of Twi Rivers when in the care of Jesse Vang who is in relationship with the boy's mother, Katrina Baur, Fox59 reported.
On Monday, Baur was formally charged with child neglect and resisting or obstructing an officer. Vang faces one felony count of party-to-a-crime for child neglect.
Vang, 39, told cops he had been trying to help Elijah Vue’s mother to correct his ‘ bad behaviours’ and when he woke from a nap at home he noticed the boy was gone.
Baur, 31, said she had left Elijah Vue in the care of Vang for about a week to teach the boy how to ‘be a man’ from Vang’s examples because he was the "enforcer of rules" in their relationship.
The outlet reported the discipline enforced on the boy included praying and saying he was sorry, which the toddler was supposed to be memorizing.
Mostly bottle-fed and not potty-trained, the boy was not allowed to play with the only toy he had when he was with Vang from February 12 to February 20 because he was in ‘time out’.
Vang had three 12-ounce beers and a muscle relaxant for sleep the evening before Elijah was with him.
In the morning, Vang took the boy to bus stop and gave cereal without milk for breakfast, according to a report.
The boy was told to stand and pray at the foot of Vang's bed without having his diaper changed.
