NFL agent Drew Rosenhaus “battles” with shark, PETA slams viral video
text_fieldsA video showing NFL agent Drew Rosenhaus wrestling with a shark has gone viral, attracting both awe and criticism.
Known for representing star players like Antonio Brown and Rob Gronkowski, Rosenhaus found himself in hot water with the animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), who labeled him a "wannabe macho" for his actions.
In the video, Rosenhaus is seen engaging with a shark he had caught on a fishing line. PETA condemned his behavior and issued a statement to TMZ Sports that criticised the agent's actions. "Spending so much time around top athletes must have Drew Rosenhaus feeling like he has something to prove," said PETA. The animal rights organisation highlighted the harm that aquatic creatures already endure at the hands of anglers and condemned the act of yanking on the shark's tail for social media attention.
Despite the backlash, Rosenhaus has remained silent on the matter, choosing not to respond to the criticism directed at him.
Accompanying the video was a caption by Rosenhaus, which read, "Went fishing with @cheetah [Tyreek Hill] today and decided to get up close to this Dusky Shark." On Twitter, Rosenhaus further mentioned the fishing trip, stating, "Got in a battle for 45 min just find out it was a shark!! Good times."
The video has sparked debates regarding the ethical treatment of marine animals and the responsibility of public figures in promoting responsible behavior while engaging in recreational activities. While some viewers expressed admiration for Rosenhaus's daring encounter, others joined PETA in condemning the act, raising concerns about the well-being and conservation of aquatic wildlife.
