Canada advices citizens not to travel Indian states bordering pak
text_fieldsOttawa: Canada has brought out a travel advisory to its nationals warning them against travelling to areas in India bordering with Pakistan due to the "presence of landmines."
Canada has picked up states of Gujarat, Punjab and Rajasthan that share border with Pakistan over what it said "unpredictable security situation", and advised Canadians not to travel within 10 km of border with Pakistan.
The advisory last updated on September 27 on the government website urged citizens to be cautious in India because of "the threat of terrorist attacks throughout the country."
Notably, the advisory does not warn Canadians against travelling within the Union Territory of Ladakh.
Assam and Manipur have also been figured in the list with the authorities asking Canadians to avoid 'non-essential travel' citing risk of "terrorism and insurgency."
India brought out an advisory on September 23 for Indian nationals in Canada to be vigilant against increasing incidents of crimes and anti-India activities in the country.
Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that the incidents of crimes against Indians have been brought to the attention of Canadian authorities to initiate probe.
MEA further said that the perpetrators of crimes against Indians have not been brought to justice yet in Canada.
India's advisory to students and nationals in the nation sparked discussions in Canadian press.
